Gas Station Chaos: Officer Opens Fire in Intense Struggle

What started as a routine late-night call quickly spiraled into chaos at an Overland gas station — and it was all caught on camera.
Just after midnight, the quiet hum of pumps and passing cars was shattered when a police cruiser pulled into the lot. The responding officer approached a suspicious vehicle parked near the pumps, engine still running, driver restless and avoiding eye contact.
The officer’s instincts kicked in. Something was off. With his flashlight cutting through the darkness, he gave a firm command:
“Show me your hands! Don’t move!”
Tension filled the air. The man inside hesitated, then froze — breathing fast, eyes darting. Backup arrived moments later, a K9 barking wildly as the scene escalated.
When the suspect suddenly swung open the door and made a break for it, everything erupted at once — shouts, flashing lights, and a struggle on the concrete.
“Get on the ground! Drop it now!” the officer yelled.
Witnesses say the man appeared to reach for something metallic. In that instant, an officer fired a single shot, striking the suspect in the arm.
“Shots fired! Suspect down!” echoed through the lot as officers rushed to secure the scene and render aid. The suspect was treated at the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, and bodycam footage will be reviewed to determine exactly what led to the shooting.
