Residents in the city center were shocked today after a chaotic incident involving a man behaving aggressively and a police officer who tried to intervene.
According to initial reports, at around 3:40 PM, police responded to multiple calls about a man acting strangely, shouting at cars and scaring pedestrians. When an officer approached to check on him and calm the situation, the man suddenly turned violent.
Witnesses say the man appeared “out of control and unpredictable,” swinging at the officer without warning. The officer tried to de-escalate and step back, but the attacker continued, forcing the officer to restrain him until backup arrived.
The officer suffered minor injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.
The suspect was taken into custody, and authorities are now investigating whether the man may have been under the influence or dealing with mental health issues.
